Automatic Lights
02:37
|
|||
The automatic lights when off because I didn’t move enough
So now I’m dancing in the flickering
Now I’m dancing in the flickering
Stick out my chin and leer at folk
“He’s a fresh hatched egg without the yolk”
All the glittering people will say
Glittering and flickering people will say
Throw me over the palace walls
I need some mud and long phone calls
Murder my mumbles and create a scuffle
I’ll lie back and enjoy it all

Buddha In New Jeans
03:49
|
|||
I started to rely on fate again
Black caravans on a midnight motorway
Fishtailing, lanterns spilling out of their doors
Cracking the heads of foxes and splitting brittle trees
Buddha in new jeans
Me on the sports team
Freud in my sex dreams
I’m beginning to appreciate
Being bored in a beautiful place
Who put this coffee in my hand
I like to know who’s buying my drinks
When did this functional bag attach itself to my back
And when did I start smiling and making eye contact
Backsliding on backside and feeling foolish but not for the first time
I guess at this point you could call me a professional
Except no ones paying me to blush this colour
And I brush my hair, like a old cat licks it’s pale fur
Buddha in new jeans
Me on the sports team
Freud in my sex dreams
I’m beginning to appreciate
Being bored in a beautiful place

Kisses Of Pink
03:26
|
|||
I crawl under a sky with kisses of pink
And I think that the rain will taste sweeter this close to the ground
I found some change and I spent it on a piece of history
And it’s a mystery to me that the trees help us breathe
And it’s crazy to me
I’m a shining new memory
And I’m liking the look of this week
It’s a cold kiss but it’s a good kiss and it’s a pink kiss
On my Sunday face
My right wrist twists up to wave at an empty space
And it’s news to me
My new shoes are hurting me
And I still can’t get over those trees
I crawl under a sky with kisses of pink

I, got sidetracked
The beast by the petrol station gave me a moment of doubt
I, thought you a strange companion
But the geography doesn’t lie, we were leaving at the same time
I got a superstition, blink twice or there’ll be trouble
The land is flat and worn and my shoes are even more
There’s a place over there with fish in, and they swallowed the whole lake
And I saw them spit it out, and carry on with their day
What’s that got to do with The Road we’re tripping down?
I want to be an astronaut, but I get travel-sick
And I want to get married, but my ringer finger’s missing
There’s aliens in the attic, and there’s zombie on the stairs
There’s monsters at my front door, and they all arrive in pairs
What’s that got to do with The Road we’re tripping down?
Let’s start a revolution, we’ll spin clockwise on our heads
The earth will slow it’s spinning, and we’ll get a few seconds more in bed
Kids playing cricket in the churchyard, they use my tombstone as the stumps
The ball strikes off my birthday, and it cheered my skeleton up
What’s that got to do with The Road we’re tripping down?
I, got sidetracked
My feet hurt and I don’t know where I am
I, thought you a strange companion
But the geography doesn’t lie, we arrived at the same time
